Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

I am hurt and scarred for life.
I am lonely in this world.
I should've diedwith the rest of my family,
Not suffering this pain.
I only have dreadful memories
No happines in my life anymore what so ever.
I couldn't see anything and I was blown of my feet .
My flesh was burnt and smell of death was all around me.
People who survived were looking everywhere for people they knew.
I had many surgeries, one after another.
Now I'm alone and I strongly believe that
there should not be any atomic bombs used anymore.
