Below is one of the contest entries.
In remembrance of that fateful day, lest we forget the pain, the suffering, history's deep regret. They open their wounds, for us to feel Windows of pain, into their memories, can we deal? The normality of that day strikes in my heart Each going about their daily business, playing their part Countless souls, Striving for their goals Like humans everywhere No better, no worse they fare But then, their lives changed for ever Who can say this will not happen again , not, Never? Will we learn? Have we learned, so far it does not seem so Mankind's conquering mission is always on the go On the surface, open wounds have healed Our bodies renewing magical appeal But the memories we must not let lie Let them fester, scream and cry Statesman, politicians, tyrants, we must not appease not in my name they cry, those who have suffered, All theirs and our voices united, we scream for peace.
