Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

I feel sad about what happened

People thinking it was an ordinary
Day, Torn by the bomb,
People had fear, they had
No Idea. So many people
Lost family members
During this time,
People were hurt so bad,
They didn't get treatment,
For days.
People saw a
Bright flash and heard no sound,
Houses burn to ashes, all house goods
Were all gone,
It was a day that remains
In memory
Today.
