Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Trojan Horse

"The Tower, certainty
The Knight, comprehension
The Horse, rationalism
Trojan Horse - Emotion
We are Polyphemus and Troy in one,
with crafty Ulysses as our conscience.
Either
he exits the Cave of stereotypes
disguised as a lamb
or
he invades the Troy of the mind’s premonitions
using a Trojan Horse.

The Iliad and Odyssey, everyone’s autobiographies. "
