Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

FLY SHY BUTTERFLY

He was a shy butterfly...

Lover of life.

One day when he was trying to fly

a bomb has fallen into his heart.

It was a good idea to live with the bomb in his heart,

without hurting anyone...

But he had just twenty four hours.

He flied in a long distance,

for not killing some other hearts with the explosion.

Found himself in a dark grey sky.

Exploded.

His heart is gone.

Now he is flying more high...

Fly shy butterfly, fly.

Without your heart you can’t be shy...
