Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Lets well realize the truthful score.
We need our troops just like before.

Boils down to this, words to engrave.
Land of the Free, Due to the Brave.

God Bless each one for being there.
Their loved ones too, unending care.

Hope born from love touches the will.
Do back those strong, means to fulfill.

We say the pledge every day in school,
but for what reason?
Is it some kind of rule?

Well what about those in the heavens above?
Shall we not say a pledge for the ones we love?

The people we love,
who were in the war.
They knew just exact what they're fighting for!

But, perhaps our loved ones another day?
What I am saying is helpful and true.
GOD BLESS HIBAKUSHA AND OUR LOVED ONES TOO!
