Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Hands Full Of Doves

My empty hands , an empty soul
Feels like a grey gold
In the darkest hour of life
We need something true, better if few
Hands full of Doves
let go them to the sky
from where they will find the hearts who need to be in Peace

Tears turn into cries
Fears into fate
But only If the doves move our way
we can change the course of the river
the direction of the winds
Hands full of doves
Praying all the time to God
To be, to stay, to have a peaceful world
