Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

1945, a huge bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan
I observed burn bodies and trees
Also I saw red, raw skin
I felt emotions: pain, terrible and tragic
I thought about the construction worker...
Who builds a new structure in Japan?
I think about the survivors who think about the family members who passed away.
