Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

The Fatal Bombing

Across the sky, a bomber flew in the air
The wind blew through the streets.

Then, a shiny object was dropped from the plane
Then there was a boom-the plane was to blame.

The plane turned and flew away
While buildings burned.

Everything was a wreck
Not even a speck of recovery.

Since everything was in bad condition
It was a sad day.
