Below is one of the contest entries.
White Light, Black Reign. To spend life creating death.. and call it a victory, to shackle us to misery.. to deface our shared humanity.. You would seek revenge. We do not. Our anger will not cloud our judgment. Unlike the civilized, we are peaceful. Unlike the illuminated, we are enlightened. On that morning I woke up to my mom's call. On that morning i was in the base sharply ironing my uniform. On that day i said goodbye to my daddy as i went to school On that day i switched the carrier from test mode to arms mode In that hour i was happily playing with my late friend in the field In that hour the target was in sight, the calculations were ready In that moment i was innocently unaware In that moment i was counting down seconds It was a blinding light and a deaffening wave it was a magnificent mushroom that affirmed victory It was no memory, no sight, no conciousness It was the expanding cloud of an almost godly creation The life sentence, pain and misery The life of freedom, pride and accomplishment. as they asked for water, we envy those who died As they rejoiced in our honor, We envied their concience. We were just innocent children We were just carrying out orders material distruction lives among us,yet we cultivate mental peace attack brings retaliation, yet we endure forgiveness Time will heal, yet history will reveal History will remind, yet time will repeat But we will chose different this time around. we will choose the white light of humanity and the clear reign of peace
