Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Peace

I stopped praying
for world peace
I stopped praying
for the abandoned planet
I stopped praying
for the people sho suffer from wars
I stopped praying
for the disarmament of the "strong"

I pray for ?ou!

I pray to stop
fighting my own self
I pray never to abandon
my being, my wants and all that belongs to me
since before my birth until eternity.
I pray that my eyes be wide open
to see, evaluate and appreciate
everything that happens around me.
I pray to have the ability to smile and love.

I pray with the one and only prayer
that has no religion, no language, no color
but a unique divine power.

I pray for You!

Pray for all these for me too
and peace will no longer a white dove.

Peace will be You and Me!
