The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
Obi Belt as Shoes - Tanka Her obi belt wrapped Around child's aching bare feet Mothers love among A sea of devastation Wrought by mankinds raw hatred Gods Guidance At the Eye of the Storm Walked where others feared Only knew after the storm Which they had weathered. Guided by the unknown hand To safety - the hand of God. Ten Short Days (Haiku) Ten days together Short, sufficient to share love Build coffin on death Burning Bush (Haiku) Hills ablaze above And a burning bush spoke not: It not being Moses.
