Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Japan was suffering on that day.
An Atomic Bomb that shook the world.
Peace was not on America’s mind, it was revenge for Pearl Harbor.
Actions became revenge.
Nations hold funeral for Japan.

Japan will never forget.
A bomb destroyed them forever.
We should use peace.
