Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

An atomic black rain
erasing the trace of life.
Hiroshima.

The mushroom cloud
sowing death and fear.
Sad memories.

Fat Man and Little Boy.
The blasts burned
people and the towns.

City of Hiroshima.
A boy raises from
the dust and ahses.

Sad anniversaries!
Hiroshima and Nagasaki witnesses
conscience of human race.

Clouds cleared -
Nagasaki
a tombless graveyard
