Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Lets Hold Hands and Keep the Peace

As we hold hand and stand tall
We forget the past and look on to the future
As we overcome our selfishness and forget our problems
We learn to help others and help cope with their problems

Together we can come and become united as one
Stopping the rivalry and wars
Forgetting the money and power
We will come together and bring peace
To our nation and people

As we walk down the road
Hand in hand
We all look tall and brave
The way we always should look
Peaceful and powerful
No one better than another

Together we can come and become united as one
Stopping the rivalry and wars
Forgetting the money and power
We will come together and bring peace
To our nation and people

Sometimes we do not know how powerful
We can all be together
Sometimes we forget how beneficial
Peace can be
Lets keep it up
For one amazing society

Lets hold hands and keep the peace
