Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Before the dawn

Before the dawn
The child weeping went to silence
Before the dawn
The ceiling of the night fall down
Before the dawn
I feel into a sleep
On the breast of dew
For a while
I'm opening the door of heaven
In my head
There is an question standing
Will hart stop beating
Will soul fly away
Or it will be standing near me
Like an guardian
Of the amazing castle
The sky will still be blue
The stars
Will still decorate the dream
Mine
Yours
Or just yours
I'm opening the door of heaven
In my head
The is an question standing
Is there some other door
To open
When I make the step
Is there a new heaven for me
Waiting
or the night will crashed
all my dreams
