Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

IN SEARCH OF PEACE

Peace;how so much we long for you.
Our Nations search for you
With various innovations;including nuclear.
But the more we search,
the less of you we find.

Peace;we know how to find you,
Not in destruction or battle for supremacy,
But all too often;this familiar terrain we tred in search of you.

Peace;we want you, more with our mouths than actions.
Are we going to ever have you?
