Below is one of the contest entries.
It is a Clarion Call Having been battered on every side for years, Having fumbled with our fortune for so long a time It has become necessary that we pursue peace to clear tears. And through the jungles and on the highways let us chime Peace to the hearts of our beloved peers. Let us not be caught in the frenzy of shattering our dreams, Cultivated over the centuries against the harvest hour Making long and winding scarlet streams From the blood of our co-labourers, for we are near to the refuge tower Where awaits the peaceful-joyful streams. Let our story be that We have this day dropped our bows, Broken our spears and burnt the arrows Lifting our brows to behold the perching of peace On the dawn of the future we anticipate, Feasts of love shall be widespread across our land After our victory in policing the borders of our mind. Pick up the sceptre of unity, The sure tool for harmonising our community For upon the structure of unity shall we find a life of dignity.
