Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

Look up at the sky
What is that you see?
"Boom Boom"
What is that I heard ?
Can’t move, I feel paralyzed.
I can’t find my family
Sad and afraid
Will my family ever find me?
My skin is hanging like a paper
The world should never forget.
Hibarkusha
