Paper Cranes

Poetry for Peace Contest

The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.

Below is one of the contest entries.

WHAT' S HAPPENED?

Can I know what's happened at the world?
Can I know what's happened at the people?
Can I know who made the lost war?
Can I know who shot the lost bomb?

I want the sunshine around me!
I want the blue sky around me!
I want the pure nature and the sound of birds!
I want the moonlight around me!

Come back the world of poetry?
Come back the love of families?
Come back the sense of happyness?
Come back the human right and peace?

Can I know what's happened at the world?
Can I know what's happened at the people?
Can I know who made the lost war?
Can I know who shot the lost bomb?

I want the sunshine around me!
I want the blue sky around me!
I want the pure nature and the sound of birds!
I want the moonlight around me!
