The mission of the “Developing Peace and Disarmament Education Initiatives to
Disarm Children and Youth” project is to help raise awareness among young
people of the purposes and goals of the Programme of Action of the 2001 UN
Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms. The project is taking place on
four continents, in four countries, Cambodia, Albania, Niger and Peru and is
attempting to use the methods and content of peace education to “disarm the
minds” of young people and in that way to sustain the work of the DDA to
“disarm the weapons”.
