UN Study on Missiles In resolution 55/33A, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General, with the assistance of a panel of governmental experts to prepare a report on the issue of missiles in all its aspects for the consideration of the General Assembly at its fifty-seventh session (2002). The following countries have been invited to designate experts for the panel: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel, Japan, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Republic of Korea, Slovak Republic, South Africa, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States. The composition of the panel ensures geographical distribution and proportional participation from members and non-members of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). The Panel of Governmental Experts will hold its first session from 30 July to 3 August 2001 in New York, and two further sessions at the same venue in 2002.
