26th United Nations International Day of Older Persons: Take a Stand Against Ageism (6 October 2016, UNHQ, 10:00am – 1:00pm)

The NGO Committee on Ageing in New York in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Argentine Republic and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs Focal Point on Ageing are organising an event to commemorate the UN International Day of Older Persons (UNIDOP) at the UN Headquarters in New York on 6 October 2016 on the theme “Take a Stand Against Ageism.” The event aims at drawing attention to and challenging negative stereotypes and misconceptions about older persons and ageing. Recent Reports

Report of the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons

The comprehensive report (A/HRC/33/44) of the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Ms. Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, assesses the implementation of existing international instruments with regard to older persons while identifying best and good practices and gaps in the implementation of existing laws related to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons. The report was transmitted to the Human Rights Council at its thirty-third session in September 2016. It was issued in all six official languages of the United Nations and is available at bit.ly/ComprehensiveReportIE
