Regional Adviser on Environmental Management
Brij Kishore
Brij Kishore has worked extensively in the field of environmental policy formulation, coordination and management, including seven years at the national level and twelve years at the international level. He was adviser to the Cabinet of Ministers in his government on programme planning and implementation, and macroeconomic policy development. His expertise includes:
  • environmental planning and management
  • national environmental strategies, action plans and implementation of Agenda 21
  • environmental impact assessment
  • marine environmental protection
  • trade and environment, including issues such as eco-labelling
  • environmental issues related to energy
  • biodiversity management
  • environmental law and international conventions.

He has also been actively involved in promoting subregional cooperation in South Asia and North East Asia

Recent policy advisery services have covered a wide range of issues, including:

  • Environmental Management Plans / Action Plans / Strategies for the Maldives, Myanmar and Brunei
  • Energy and environmental issues in China, the Philippines and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea
  • Environmental Impact Assessment for the Bhutan, Brunei, Maldives, and Mongolia
  • Environmental management systems (ISO 14000) in Indonesia
  • Industrial pollution control management in India, Mongolia and the Philippines
