256 COMPUTER FILE CHARACTERISTICS
 
 
This field is used to record characteristics pertaining to a computer file.

It may contain information about the type of file (e.g. computer programmes), the number of records, statements, etc. (e.g. 1250 records, 5076 bytes).
Field 256 ends with a period.

Examples:

245 10 $a Cross-border clearing and settlement arrangements in the European Union $h [computer file] / $c The Giovanni Group
256 $a Computer data

245 10 $a Annual report to the Congress $h [computer file] / $c USA, Congress, Office of Technology Assessment
