Depuis 1948, la Journée des Nations Unies marque
l'anniversaire de l'entrée en vigueur de la Charte
des Nations Unies le 24 octobre 1945. Cette journée est marquée
dans le monde entier par des réunions, des débats et des
expositions consacrés à l'oeuvre et aux objectifs de l'Organisation.
En 1971, l'Assemblée générale a recommandé
que les États Membres en fassent un jour férié (résolution
2782 (XXVI).
