American Distance Education Consortium: An international consortium of state universities and land grant institutions providing high quality and economical distance education programmes and services via the latest and most appropriate information technologies. Primary emphasis is on programmes relating to food and agriculture, children, youth and families, community/economic development, distance education & technology, environment and natural resources, nutrition and health.

Bureau for International Library Staff Exchange: LIBEX acts as a clearinghouse for library and information staff interested in arranging job exchanges with professionals in other countries. Libraries, as well as individuals, may use this free service. LIBEX does not arrange exchanges itself; this is done directly by the applicants. However it tries to provide answers to some of the many questions which arise in arranging exchanges or refer applicants to other sources of information. Individuals who have already made an exchange are often a useful source of advice and guidance. A list of published reports describing successful exchanges is available on request.

IFLA/OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship: This annual programme provides early career development and continuing education for library and information science professionals from countries with developing economies. The programme will select up to four individuals to come to OCLC’s headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, USA, for a four-week period, to participate in an intensive programme of lectures, seminars and mentoring. Topics and issues will include information technologies and their impact on ibraries, library operations and management, and global cooperative librarianship.

Inflibnet Centre: The Information and Library Network Centre is an autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of the University Grants Commission (India). It is involved in creating infrastructure for sharing information among academic and research Institutions. Major activities include library automation, database creation, software development, human resources development, information services and networking, etc... The site also includes information on grants, fellowships, scholarships, and online access to union databases of books, theses, serials, experts and projects.

Infolibrarian: Infolibrarian is an information source for library professionals in India and abroad. Topics include conferences, education, information technology, etc.

International Training Program for Librarians: This international training programme is planned to take place in October, November, December 2002, mainly in Brussels, Belgium. This initiative is aimed primarily at guiding participants in retrieving information that is publicly accessible on an international scale, and at teaching them to organize and manage information resources at personal, institutional, regional or national levels. The programme is addressed to persons with a university degree who work in universities, information and documentation centers, and libraries, including, of course, university libraries.

MIT OpenCourseWare: The Massachusetts Institute of Technology will make the materials for nearly all its courses freely available on the Internet over the next ten years. The idea behind MIT OpenCourseWare (MIT OCW) is to make the core teaching materials, including lecture notes, course outlines, reading lists, and assignments for each course, used in almost all undergraduate and graduate classes available on the web, free of charge, to any user anywhere in the world. The MIT curriculum places heavy emphasis on the physical and theoretical sciences, mathematics, engineering, etc.

Mortenson Center for International Library Programs: The Mortenson Center Associates Program offers an opportunity for librarians and those engaged in library-related activities to come to the University of Illinois, usually for extended stays of four months to a year, to observe and learn first-hand the workings of a major U.S. academic library and to share their experiences with us. The section on Our partners provides access to a list of cooperative programmes in Russia, Georgia, Central America, Haiti, and South Africa.

Sabre Foundation's Training Workshops: Sabre's Internet Training Workshops programme aims to provide participants with a solid understanding of what the Internet is (and is not) and focuses on practical applications of skills that meet the needs and realities of the trainee's home country. Trainees gain a broad understanding of the Internet resources and tools for a given profession or area of study, as well as of other information technologies relevant to their fields.
