UNDEF Governance and Partners

The Secretary-General’s Advisory Board, UNDEF's main governing mechanism, is composed of 18 members. They include the seven biggest donors between 2011 and 2013 -- the United States, India, Sweden, Germany, Australia, Poland and Chile. The Board also includes six other States from different regions, chosen for their proven commitment to democracy, as well as three members serving in an individual capacity, and two representatives of civil society organizations. The Advisory Board provides policy guidance to the Secretary-General on the development of programme frameworks and funding guidelines, and recommends funding proposals for his approval.

The Programme Consultative Group serves as UN inter-agency mechanism that provides expert advice. It comprises the UN Department of Political Affairs, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Peacebuilding Support Office, the UN Development Program, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and UN Women.
