UNDEF Head Holds Discussions in Washington

Mr Roland Rich, Executive Head of UNDEF, visited Washington for discussions with the State Department on Wednesday 20 February. In his discussions with Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs, Paula Dobrianski, Mr Rich briefed Ms Dobrianski on the progress of UNDEF's second funding round noting the strong demand from civil society for democracy promotion projects. Ms Dobrianski briefed Mr Rich on developments relating to the Community of Democracies with particular reference to the Diplomat's Handbook for Democratic Development Support which was produced under its auspices. Mr Rich also called on Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs, Ms Kristen Silverberg, to discuss forthcoming meetings of the UNDEF Advisory Board.
