Members of the European Parliament visit the UN Democracy Fund

Ms. Antonyia Parvanova (Bulgaria) and Mr. Graf Alexander Lambsdorff (Germany, Members of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe visited the UN Democracy Fund on 9 October 2006 to be briefed on its activities and priorities. The discussion focused recent UN progresses in the area of democracy promotion and the protection of human rights as well as the possible synergies between the Democracy Fund and initiatives by the European Union. The role of parliamentarians and the need to support Parliaments were particularly highlighted.
