The
UN Cyberschoolbus and the UN Department of Public Information
would like you to take part in celebrating World Environment Day
on 5 June, 2000, by planting a tree. Through the generosity of
Children Uniting Nations, Kafus Environmental Industries, SavATree,
the Body Shop and other private partners, the UN's Department
of Public Information (DPI) can give you Environment Day cards
which have seeds embedded in them.

These cards can be planted directly in the soil to produce
kenaf, a hibiscus-like crop which grows quickly and which is being
grown throughout the world as an alternative source for paper
and building materials, thus preserving our precious forests.
Write to the Public Inquiries Unit at the UN:
inquiries@un.org
and
let them know you'd like seed cards for World Environment Day
and be sure to say how many you would like. Please reply as soon
as possible.
There are probably already a number of organizations in your area involved
with World Environment Day projects in which you might want to participate.
