1972: 1 retrospectively diagnosed non fatal case in Tandala,
Zaire 
1976: 318 cases of which 280 were fatal - between 1 September and
24 October in the area of
Yambuku, Zaire 
1976: 284 cases of which 141 were fatal - in Nzara, Maridi,
Tembura and Juba, Sudan between
June and November; 
1977: 1 fatal case in Tandala, Zaire 
1979: 34 cases of which 22 were fatal - in Nzara and Yambio,
Sudan between 31 July and 6
October. 
1994: 1 case, non-fatal - Tai, C“te d'Ivoire, in November. 
1995: 316 cases of which 245 were fatal - in Kikwit, Zaire
between January- June 1995. 
1996: 1 non fatal case from Plibo, Liberia 1996. 
1996-97: 37 cases of which 21 were fatal - Makokou, Gabon,
between January and March, 60
cases of which 45 were fatal - Boou‚, between August 1996 and
January 1997 
1996: 1 fatal case in South Africa (epidemiologically linked with
the outbreak in Gabon),
