ASAP: Atlas of Student Action for the Planet

FOREST  FOREST

Sombra e Agua Fresca (Fresh Water and Shade)

Over the last three years, students have done scientific research on envirommental conditions of an area of 5000 square metres along the river that passes in front of our school. These studies have included water and soil analyses, climatic conditions, animal and plant life. This year, eight hundred trees of native species were planted by our students in partnership with the local authorities. Preparation for the planting of the trees was done through workshops offered to students, teachers and people of the community. The next couple of steps to be taken will be those of growth, accompaniment, development of trees and general care of the area. Most important of all, will be the establishment of educational links between ourselves and local public schools, to show the necessity of action in the environmental field for the future of humanity.
