Agenda 21 - How to Survive on Earth Agenda 21 is a project that the UN started in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro. 180 different countries are working with this project. The meaning of Agenda 21 is how to survive on earth. I*EARN In the fall of 1997 my class was working with the school project IEARN. IEARN stands for International education and resource network and is like a network among different schools in the world. Together with some of my classmates I was working about Agenda 21 and how different municipalities in the world are working with it. To find out that we sent questions to other schools in the world. This is what we found out when we got the replies. In Slovenia they don't work with Agenda 21 at all, but they are working with environment projects. They don't work with Agenda 21 in USA either but they are also working with other projects. They have certain programs and are recycling a lot. School project After we found out what other municipalities were doing for Agenda 21 we wanted to know what our municipality Huddinge is doing for the project. To find that out we took contact with Thomas Strid who's responsible for Agenda 21 in Huddinge. We found out that Huddinge is doing quite much for Agenda 21. For example are we recycling a lot, glass, paper, batteries and so on. We decided to try to make our school EDBO more involved with Agenda 21 by using the information we got from the other schools and Thomas Strid. We fixed so that we got detectors in the corridors and some of classrooms. We also fixed a compost and a new metal container. We have now left all this work to a couple of teachers and students who are working with the environment in the school.
