Residence and environment

As part of its participation in the program "Young reporters for the environment", the 2nd Technical Lyceum of Kilkis has tried to examine the effect of the place where people live to their psychological health. The subject of our group research was the relation that the house’s traditional form used to nurture between man and nature. We tried to interpret the crisis which characterizes the human condition and man’s aggressive policy towards nature via the rationalistic methods and absolutely mathematical practices on which the modern, built up areas are based. The way a modern building construction turns man and nature from subject into object. The lack of anthropocentric character in our buildings prevents the individual from obtaining what we call "environmental ethos".
