Schoolground Naturalization Project The students, staff and community of our school have been actively involved in turning an unused strip of grass approximately 100'x 20' into an area made up of native species plants, shrubs and trees. Prior to Sept'97, the area was covered with newspaper and then with mulch in an effort to rid ourselves of the grass. This was successfully accomplished and we are now in the process of introducing plants. Each class has a piece of the garden and will begin planting things such as edible plants, plants that will attract birds and plants that may have been used in the colonial times. There is also an outdoor classroom with stumps for seats and a great place to view the changes in the garden. Everyone has been actively involved and we encourage everyone to take ownership.
