Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
Working Groups' Reports

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been established by WMO and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socioeconomicinformation relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. It is currently finalizing its Fourth Assessment Report "Climate Change 2007", also referred to as 'AR4'. The reports by the three Working Groups provide a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the current state of knowledge on climate change. The Synthesis Report integrates the information around six topic areas.

Working Group I: "The Physical Basis of Climate Change"

Working Group I assesses the scientific aspects of the climate system and climate change.

Working Group II Report: "Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability"

Working Group II assesses the vulnerability of socio-economic and natural systems to climate change, negative and positive consequences of climate change, and options for adapting to it.

Working Group III Report: "Mitigation of Climate Change"

Working Group III assesses options for limiting greenhouse gas emissions and otherwise mitigating climate change.
