Assistant Secretary-General for Climate Change Janos Pasztor urged global finance ministers meeting in Lima on Friday to “ensure that climate-friendly policies are adopted, replicated – and enforced – throughout the world.”

A new climate finance report released this week by the Secretary-General’s Climate Change Support Team finds that the private sector is emerging as a key partner in the effort to create a low-carbon, climate resilient future. However, Pasztor said that increased collaboration with government will accelerate change.

“A major shift in the practices of the global financial community, coupled with strong government enabling policies will be needed to ensure continued progress,” Pasztor said.
