UN Radio distributes our daily live news programme and
our numerous weekly feature series to partner broadcasters
through our FTP (file transfer protocol) server. This
service enables us to disseminate quickly and efficiently
high-quality recordings of our radio programmes worldwide.
Digital sound preserves sound quality better than cassette
tape, and can be downloaded and distributed easily for
broadcast use.
We also distribute our programmes via email, on request,
and would be happy to discuss other forms of distribution
that would respond to your needs.
WHAT
IS FTP?
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a method of obtaining
electronic files through the Internet using dedicated
software. Files on an FTP server are organized hierarchically,
and FTP servers usually require a login and password
to access files on them.
WHERE CAN ONE OBTAIN FTP SOFTWARE?
There are several FTP client software applications for
PC users, some of which are free. Use any Search engine
such as Google or Yahoo to find and download a free
FTP software.
Alternately, you may use a web browser such as Internet
Explorer or Netscape
Navigator to access our FTP server.
