of AU Mission in Somalia
The
Security Council this week renewed its authorization of
the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for a further six

should do more to help AMISOM bring peace to the troubled
Horn of Africa country. Ambassador Dumisani Kumalo of South
Africa says: "The African Union it's like when
your house is on fire the neighbours come with buckets of
water, but the neighbours are not the fire engine. The fire
engine is the United Nations."
African Countries Are Ready to
Contribute Troops for Darfur
Preparations
are under way for the deployment of a hybrid African Union/United

Security Council for August, Ambassador Pascal Gayama of
the Republic of the Congo says the force is supposed to
have a very strong African character. "We believe
that African countries, many of them are ready to contribute.
Of course, we are not sure if all of them will be able to
provide the total of 20,000 troops."

of Bednets to Prevent Malaria in Congo
A train carrying hundreds of thousands of insecticide-
treated bed nets donated by the government of Japan,
travels from PointeNoire to Brazzaville, the capital of
