PREVENTION
AND TREATMENT REDUCE HIV/AIDS INFECTIONS AND DEATHS;
CLIMATE CHANGE HAS DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES IN
AFRICA
On the first of December every year the United
Nations observes World AIDS Day to put the spotlight
on this pandemic. This year's observance comes
just a week after the launch of a special report
compiled by the Joint United Nations Programme
on HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS, and the World Health organization.
The
headline message is 'Prevention Works' and we
have ample evidence of this that has built up
over the years. But for them to work there has
to be sustained intensive application of these
tools, says Desmond Johns, Director
of the UNAIDS New York Office. We will hear more
from him and his colleague, Dr.Jim Kim, of the
World Health Organization
