LIBERIA: AFTER THE ELECTIONS
ROLLING BACK MALARIA: CONCERT IN GENEVA

Liberians wait anxiously as the ballots from Tuesday's peaceful and orderly elections are counted. The head of Liberia's National Elections Commission, Madame Frances Johnson-Morris (left) and outgoing Liberian leader, Charles Gyudeh Bryant caution against any hasty interpretations of partial results. "It is my hope that presidential candidates will temper the expectation of victory with caution. They should be prepared as much for victory as for defeat because the outcome of elections cannot 't be determined mainly on the basis of presumption and one expectations, " Mr Bryant said.

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan lends his voice and support to the campaign against malaria, as he attends a major concert in Geneva, aimed at raising funds and awareness. Mr Annan is introduced by top Senegalese musician, Youssou N'Dour.

A major breakthrough in Liberia as presidential and legislative elections are CONFIRMED for Tuesday the Eleventh of October. Former Nigerian ruler Abdulsalami Abubakar has brokered an agreement with the disaffected candidates to pave the way for the polls.
