LIBERIA ELECTIONS: ON TARGET?
AND
TOP MUSICIAN YOUSSOU N'DOUR FIGHTS AGAINST MALARIA

Liberians prepare for elections in a few days time. But there are some doubts about the exact date for the polls. The UN's top envoy in Liberia, Alan Doss, tells us about his expectations: "We know other countries in Africa and beyond that have gone through dreadful times, awful conflict, but with UN and other international help, have come out of it, held a successful election, moved on to do the things that need to be done. ... It can be done. And that's the message that I keep giving Liberians: it can be done!"

And one of Africa's most successful musicians, Youssou N'Dour of Senegal is deploying his talent and fame again in the fight against malaria - a disease that kills close to 3,000 African children every day: "What we expect October 8th is music unite - different sounds, different language and a lot of vibrations between the crowd and us."

UN WORLD SUMMIT
WHAT DOES AFRICA GAIN?

The UN's largest ever summit of world leaders has just ended in New York. What exactly are African countries taking away from this major summit? UN Director for Strategic Planning, Abiodun Williams: "In no other continent in the world will more lives be saved than in Africa ... If you see the glass as half full, you will see that there are practical, very important decisions which have been taken."
