FORMER US PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON URGES MEDIA TO DO MORE TO FIGHT HIV/AIDS
ANGOLA: LATEST ON DEADLY MARBURG FEVER
COTE D'IVOIRE: ANOTHER CRITICAL MOMENT

Former US President, Bill Clinton, continues to use his high profile to support the worldwide fight against HIV/AIDS, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the disease continues to cause the most havoc. He recalls a recent visit to Nigeria where he joined President Olusegun Obasanjo in a televised event to help victims of the disease:
"President Obasanjo called Mrs. Ebekwa up on the stage and embraced her on national television. Again, at the time, it was a virtually revolutionary thing for a political leader in Africa to do, to show he wasn't afraid to embrace an HIV-positive woman."

Cote D'Ivoire's political process reaches another critical juncture as South African president Thabo Mbeki - acting on behalf of the African Union - rules that everyone, including the banned Alassane Ouattara, must be allowed to run in October's presidential elections:
"This agreement will be integrally implemented and lead to a positive outcome."
