SECURITY COUNCIL STRONGLY CONDEMNS REPORTS RWANDAN INCURSIONS INTO THE DR CONGO &
ELIMINATING LANDMINES: OVERVIEW OF THE NAIROBI SUMMIT


The UN Security Council strongly condemns reports of fresh Rwandan troop incursions into the DRCongo. Rwanda's envoy to the UN, Stanislas Kamanzi denies the allegations but highlights his country's concerns about Rwandan rebels operating from the DRC against his government.

A major summit on the elimination of landmines ends in Nairobi will a firm declaration for more mined land to cleared and victims to be rehabilitated. UN Secretary-General calls for more to be done.
