FOCUS ON WOMEN AND GIRLS ON WORLD AIDS DAY
AND HOW WALL STREET COULD HELP FIGHT THE EPIDEMIC

Africa remains the continent worst affected by HIV-AIDS, with women and girls now at greater risk than their male counterparts. We look at two high-profile events in New York on World AIDS Day and UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan's continuing personal commitment to the fight against the epidemic.

We hear some of the singers in the South African Choir whose members are all HIV-positive.
"Being HIV-positive is a challenge everyday and every minute since you don't know what the future holds for you," says Zinhle Thabethe

And Mr. Annan tells some leading companies on Wall Street how they could help fight HIV-AIDS: "Business can have a wider-ranging impact as advocates for change, by speaking up about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and what can be done to stop it. Silence and stigma drive the virus underground and fuel its spread. Speaking up helps to halt it."
