COTE D'IVOIRE: THE PEACE PROCESS IS STALLED, AGAIN
UNICEF CAMPAIGNS FOR IODISED SALT TO PREVENT BRAIN DAMAGE AND MENTAL RETARDATION IN WEST AFRICAN CHILDREN

Cote D'Ivoire's promising peace accord not promising anymore and the UN Secretary-General gets concerned. But who is to blame?
"It's actually everybody. It's the government, the political parties, the National Assembly, those who are still carrying weapons. So it's all parties," said John Victor Nkolo, the spokesman of ONUCI.

Head of the UN Children's Agency, Carol Bellamy, tells us how millions of West African children who suffer brain damage and mental retardation every year could be easily saved. "How do you get this iodine? It's only a little bit, so don't drink it. And you can get in different ways, but probably the least expensive and most available way is through iodised salt."

We'll also be hearing about the crucial role of Africa's traditional and religious leaders in fulfilling their promise to create 'An Africa fit for children.'
