The UN's top
man's on the ground in Sudan, Jan Pronk, delivers
his verdict as the UN deadline for Sudanese government
action in Darfur expires.
"The humanitarian situation in Darfur is
still bleak. There are major gaps in the provision
of food, water and sanitation."
