THE UN TACKLES THE COTE D'IVOIRE POLITICAL STALEMATE AND THE CRISIS IN DARFUR, SUDAN

The political stalemate in Cote D'Ivoire: After the recent summit in Accra, we ask Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, why the latest agreement he brokered would be successful.

"I saw the spirit in the room when they signed the agreement, how relieved they all seemedto be. We all hope that, this time around, it is serious and they are going to go back and honour their commitments,"
said Mr Annan.

We examine, with UN Assistant Secretary-General for peacekeeping, Hedi Annabi, what needs to be done now.
And, anger in Sudan after the Security Council gives a 30-day ultimatum over the Darfur crisis. So, What next?

Mr Francis Deng, the UN Special Representative for Internally Displaced Person - who is himself Sudanese - speaks to us about his recent week-long visit in Sudan looking into the conditions of people affected by the crisis in Darfur.
