In this third edition, a discussion on Water and Sanitation with UN HABITAT Executive Director, Anna Tibaijuka and Uganda's Minister of State for Water, Maria Mutagamba. We posed the question: Should water be privatized?

AnnaTibaijuka: "There is no free water in Africa, the women and children of Africa fetch water but because their labour is assumed to be of zero value people going around talking about free water, there is nothing like free water."

But what about those who are too poor to pay for water?
And, how can African nations achieve the UN's goal of reducing by half the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water by 2015?

Maria Mutagamba::
"In Uganda we are saying by year 2015 we must have a hundred percent safe water coverage and adequate sanitation and we are committed to that."
